Allergy is the overreaction of the organism to harmless environmental substances e.g. pollen, dust, fur of animals, food, cosmetics, detergents.
Allergies are quite common, occurring in 2% in the adult population in the western world. Allergies occur more frequently in children.
A possible cause is the overuse of detergents and disinfectants, which lessens the exposure to potential allergens. Also the abuse or inappropriate use of antibiotics, especially in infants, which weakens the immune system.
Allergies present with the following symptoms:
- Hay fever (sneezing, runny nose, nose obstruction)
- Allergic conjunctivitis (itchy or tearful eyes)
- Asthma (cough and difficult respiration)
- Dermatitis (itchy skin, eczema)
Conventional medicine prescribes antihistamine medications, decongestants and cortisone. Those medications reduce the symptoms but do not prevent the allergic crises from occurring again in the future. They also do not cure the disease. In addition, they have contra indications and possible side effects, especially when cortisone is used in high dosage or for a long period of time.
Homeopathic medicine views the patient as a unique psychosomatic entity. Homeopathic remedies are highly diluted solutions of natural substances like plants or minerals, which fortify the immune system. They have no side effects or contra indications, therefore they can be prescribed during pregnancy or to infants. They also have low cost.
Homeopathic treatment of allergies is aiming at:
- Reducing symptoms during the acute phase
- Reducing the frequency and the severity of the allergic crises
- Deep healing as the issues that manifest as an allergy are addressed
- General improvement of the patient’s level of health
